Klaipėda Forum will gather the leaders of the field of LNG
On 15-16 May, Klaipėda, aiming to become a liquefied natural gas (LNG) distribution and technology development centre of the Baltic Sea region, will gather representatives of the business organisations, making breakthroughs in the field. Klaipėda LNG Forum 2019 – is the largest LNG event, organised in Klaipėda to this day, offering a wide range of insights on different areas of this industry.
The Forum is organised by the Lithuanian LNG cluster partners Klaipėda Science and Technology Park (KSTP) and JSC Klaipėdos Nafta (KN), as well as the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Lithuania. The intensive two-day programme will be opened by high officials, representing the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Lithuania, Polish Government and the European Commission. The presenters will include guests from Poland, Sweden, Germany, Belgium, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands and Lithuania.
According to analysts, the small scale LNG market should grow threefold by 2030. The presenters will provide a full overview of the LNG application and perspectives, ranging from LNG road and railway transport to the maritime and inland waterway sector. Some presentations will be dedicated to sustainable LNG infrastructure development, liquefied biogas (LBG) and supplying consumers that are not connected to the gas pipe network.
The public will have an opportunity to know more about the achievements of the international Go LNG project, led by KSTP as its main partner, in the LNG value chain development in the Baltic Sea region, as well as about the activity of the Baltic Sea Region LNG Competence Centre and cluster. The latter platform, uniting Lithuanian, Polish, German, Swedish, Danish and Norwegian national LNG clusters, is actively working to gather partners not only in Europe – a cooperation agreement with the Chinese LNG cluster has been recently signed as well.
“This year KN focuses on building its foundation in the development of international LNG projects in the global market of LNG terminals, but we continue to dedicate as much attention to further development of Klaipėda LNG terminal and the regional value chain. KN is constantly looking for new and innovative opportunities to use the infrastructure available to us in even more efficient ways, thus creating value for the entire Lithuania. The upcoming Klaipėda LNG Forum will create an exceptional opportunity to take a new look at our achievements, listen to insights, offered by professionals, coming from all over Europe, as well as get to know other countries’ success stories in using LNG, which could turn into Lithuania’s success in the future as well,” highlighted KN CEO Mindaugas Jusius.
According to Andrius Sutnikas, Development Manager of the KSTP, coordinating the Lithuanian LNG cluster’s activity, Klaipėda LNG Forum 2019 will become an excellent platform to introduce the technological projects currently developed in our country and their potential on the international scale. “LNG infrastructure development is integral to the competencies, enabling the introduction and application of LNG innovations. What makes us strong is that we understand this and work towards the development of the critical mass of LNG experts: Klaipėda University is the only university in the entire Baltic Sea region to offer study programmes on LNG terminal engineering since 2016, which are likely to promise really good career opportunities to their graduates in the future.”
Panel discussions with LNG experts, offering an overview of the current affairs in the industry, B2B meetings and a tour at the Western Shipyard – Klaipėda LNG Forum 2019 promises a rich programme both at the Hall of the Klaipėda Castle and other places. More than 200 participants from Lithuania and abroad have already registered for the event.
